Important Entity
An organisation under NIS2 Annex I or II sectors that meets the medium-enterprise threshold without reaching essential-entity status.

Important entities face reactive (ex-post) supervision — authorities step in after evidence of non-compliance or an incident — and a lower penalty ceiling of €7 million or 1.4% of global annual turnover. The Article 21 security measures and Article 23 reporting duties are otherwise the same as for essential entities.
