National Transposition
The process by which an EU member state converts the NIS2 Directive into its own national law.

Because NIS2 is a directive rather than a regulation, exact rules — including thresholds, authorities, and penalties — can vary slightly by country depending on how it was transposed. National acts routinely go beyond the baseline by adding sectors or public bodies, setting registration windows and introducing sanctions the directive does not spell out, and several member states completed the process well after the October 2024 deadline.
